Jul 13, 2022 - Aug 07, 2022
School Board Members establish a shared vision for the schools that they represent which reflects a consensus of the board, community and district staff. The school board has a wide variety of additional responsibilities, such as adopting annual budgets and issuing interim financial reports, adopting the school calendar, negotiating contracts with employees (including the hiring of superintendents), approving curriculum materials and closing or constructing schools. The monthly salary for this position is $300.
Application GuidelinesTo file for this position follow these three simple steps: 1) Contact the Alameda County Registrar of Voters office at (888) 280-7708 to verify that your address qualifies for the position, and to see if there are any other requirements that might prevent you from running (residency within the district for a certain period of time is frequently a requirement). 2) Obtain the appropriate filing papers from the elections office, usually found with the County Clerk, however the County Clerk may direct you to contact the district directly. Ask the county for a phone number or suggestion on how to speak with the district. Smaller districts can be very difficult to get in touch with, but the county office should have a point of contact at the district. 3) Submit the candidacy papers within the 113-88 day filing window prior to the election to the appropriate office (sometimes this is the county, but other times it is the district directly). Prior to submitting your candidacy papers, you should arrange an appointment with the County Clerk (or other election administrator) to make sure that you have the correct amount of petition signatures or application fee (when applicable).
