Description
The Transit District Board of Directors is, by statute, a policy-making body. Under California law, the Board shall supervise and regulate every transit facility owned and operated by the district; including the fixing of rates, rentals, charges, and classifications, and the making and enforcement of rules, regulations, contracts, practices, and schedules, for or in connection with any transit facility owned or controlled by the District.
Application Guidelines
To file for this position follow these three simple steps: 1) Contact the city clerk's office of your official residence to verify that you qualify for the position, and to see if there are any other requirements that might prevent you from running (residency within the district for a certain period of time is frequently a requirement). 2) Obtain the appropriate filing papers from the city elections office, usually found with the City Clerk, however in some cities the position may not exist, so in these instances the person to contact would be the City Secretary or someone in the city administration. If there is any difficulty finding someone to speak with at the city, contact the Alameda County Registrar of Voters office at (888) 280-7708 to see if they can give you a point of contact for elections administration within the city. 3) Submit the candidacy papers within the 113-88 day filing window prior to the election. Prior to submitting your candidacy papers, you should arrange an appointment with the City Clerk (or other election administrator) to make sure that you have the correct amount of petition signatures or application fee (when applicable).Submit application to:
